Grand Prix 2024 Miami Grand Prix Practice, Qualifying & Race Discussion

As the famous song goes, "Welcome to Miami," which is the next destination on Verstappen's seemingly unstoppable winning roadshow. Based on his comments following a very comfortable win in Shanghai, it appears that Miami will suit his car even better than Shanghai did. & it is another sprint race which isnt the worst thing as sprint part of chinese weekend was the most enjoyable part as the battles were fantastic but then weekends entertainment dramatically dropped off.

It is the 11th different F1 venue to host a sprint weekend. since they were introduced in 2021

The sprint qualifying was weird to figure out. In SQ1, McLaren led with a 1-2 finish, two tenths ahead of the next fastest team. In SQ2, Lando Norris was again on top, three tenths clear. However, after switching to softs in SQ3, he finished 9th, nine tenths slower on the supposedly quicker tyre. Surprisingly, his medium tyre time from SQ2 would have been fast enough for pole position.
 
the stewarding was dodgy as well today. i thought Hamilton shouldve been penalised for out braking himself & ending Norris race who was the innocent victim. & stroll who got sandwiched

Magnussen acknowledges that the penalties were deserved, and his honesty is commendable. The only issue I had was with the 1 incident where he had no intention of making the corner & forced Hamilton off the track. However, 4 penalties in 19 laps suggests a need for a review of standards, as we like people driving hard but you must drive hard but fair. We used to talk about the 'Trulli train,' but this might well be termed the 'Magnussen metro.'

by the way forgot as well huge shoutout danny ric great qualifying & a sprint today in 4th. it pains me to see to him fail because i think everyone wants to see him succeed, as he is such a lovely guy
 
Alonso is calling out the stewards for British bias but on there they are from Singapore, Barbados, the US and Italy (who is Tonio Liuzzi)

the KMag situation is ridiculous, I can see something like will kick up if they take out a championship driver because applying the number of penalties was doing nothing. Should not KMag be given the black and white flag for unsportsman driving !

So, KMag should probably be sitting out a race after his antics in the sprint. Similarly, Hamilton (and possibly also Alonso) should have faced penalties for ruining Norris’ and Stroll’s sprints.

However, I suspect that the stewards were already unwilling to penalise Hamilton, because of the 20 second pit lane speeding penalty…
 
I am confused to this penalty, when the pit lane becomes part of the track behind the safety car surely the normal speed limits are no longer applicable as the safety car governs the speed. This penalty seems to mean that as the cars enter the pit the each car must engage the pit lane software and depending when each driver selects this and the cars don't have rear brake lights then in a narrow entrance a collision seems more than likely.
 
I thought Magnussen was brilliant and we need more driving like that in F1. At no point did he put another driver at risk, he simply defended his position. What a pointless, santised sport F1 has become.

of the 4 i thought that driving him off the track was the only 1 i had an issue with

I can imagine if that was Verstappen behind him.Red Bull would be moaning about race ruined by K Mag driving. I am waiting for when KMag takes someone out after receiving 3 penalties especially a championship contender then all he'll will break loose about how inadequate the stewards are and how he should have been dqed
